Founded in 2001 as a 501 (c)3 organization, Tech Start Tampa Bay is the charitable arm of the Tampa Bay Technology Forum (TBTF) and provides a channel for TBTF members – (and non-members!) to give back to the community. Our mission is to create a better future for at-risk youth of Tampa Bay by providing inspiration, education and opportunities in technology fields. Tech Start Tampa Bay’s initiatives, Computer*rific, Scholarship Program, and Technology is in IT are all funded entirely by donations and support from corporate sponsors.
If you know us as the Tampa Bay Technology Forum Foundation, don’t be confused! In an effort to create our own identity, the foundation will now be called TechStart Tampa Bay – expressing simply our goal of inspiring youth involvement in technology. In January 2012, a new vision statement prompted our board of directors to make the organization its own entity. Our name change is an important step in our development and future growth. Regardless of the name, we will always remain committed to our mission — and we hope you will, too. Tech Start Tampa Bay will continue our previous community connections and hope to utilize them to achieve our complementary partnership goals.
“Tech Start Tampa Bay is positioned for a very bright future. We believe that our new start will only strengthen our efforts to introduce children of all ages to technology” – Monika Martin, executive director of Tech Start Tampa Bay.
